FedEx Express opens new Asia hub in southern China
Beijing - FedEx Corp, the world's largest express transport company, has opened a new Asia-Pacific hub in the southern Chinese city Guangzhou, the company said Tuesday.
The new 150-million-dollar hub of FedEx Express, a subsidiary of the Memphis, Tennessee-based company, is the largest outside the United States and replaces a previous location in Subic Bay in the Philippines.
Located at the International Baiyun Airport at Guangzhou in the Pearl River Delta, the hub provides access to more than 220 countries for FedEx. Each week, 136 flights will arrive at and depart from the new hub, the company said in a statement.
The hub features its own ramp control tower, high-speed sorting lines and customs offices. (dpa)
