Experts afraid of low ratings of Micromax Cup
As the Micromax Cup is expected to start from the 28th May, the fact that India is sending what could be considered a second string team full of youngsters may take its own toll from the ratings of the cricket tournament.
In fact, the sponsorships have already started to show the effect as it has banked only a handful of sponsors for the series that is being followed by the controversial IPL and ICC T20 world cup. Zee chief revenue officer Joy Chakraborthy said that the channel has banked two clients so far in the form of Hero Honda and Micromax.
However, the channel is in no mood to downgrade its rate from Rs. 1.4 lakh for a 10 seconds spot as it has been seen many times that many deals are cracked at the last minute in the case of a cricket tournament.
Pidilite, ICI Paints and HP are the few names in the list of the spot buyers so far. Nevertheless, the company is hopeful of banking three more sponsors in the coming days.
But experts are of a view that many advertisers will be participating in the India versus Sri Lanka Test and ODI series which is also on Ten Sports as it is expected that the full strength Indian team will take part in the tournament.
