The expanding focus on Figo
There is no denying to the fact that since Ford India had launched its hatchback model Figo in the Indian market, it has been able to take the market by storm.
While the product has received over 25,000 bookings in the past few months that followed the launch of the model, the company expects to clear the backlog of 6,000-7,000 units in a month's time.
As the auto major has begun operations of the second shift, it is believed that it will be able to produce much more to what it was doing in the single shift. Ford India president and managing director, Michael Boneham, said that the company will be able to clear the backlog of orders by July-end.
Moreover, Boneham also pointed out the fact that even in the situation where the company is under pressure but it will continue operating on the same price.
It is to be mentioned here that while fifty per cent of Figo sales come from Tier I cities, the remaining from Tier II and Tier III cities. The company has recently begun exports of the model to South Africa.
