England call off one-dayers, tests in doubt after India attacks
London - England have postponed their remaining two one-day matches against India following Wednesday's terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
England and Wales Cricket Board chiefs are expected to announce later Thursday on whether to cancel a two-test series which is due to start on December 11, British media reports said Wednesday.
The ECB said on its website that the two one-day matches, at Guwahati on Saturday and Delhi on December 2, have both been called off.
"ECB managing director Hugh Morris has thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India for its understanding regarding the postponement of the final two one-day internationals," it said.
The ECB said Morris refuted reports it had asked the BCCI to consider cancelling the upcoming two-test series in India.
The first test is due to begin in Ahmedabad on December 11-15, with the second test scheduled to be held in Mumbai on December 19- 23.
"We did not request the cancellation of the test series," he said.
"Whenever England play cricket, we act on security advice. If our security advice says that it is safe to play a two-test series, then that is what we will do."
The inaugural Twenty20 Champions League, in which Middlesex Crusaders were due to compete, has already been postponed and the Middlesex squad has remained in England.
Gunmen have killed 101 people and injured more than 300 in raids on five-star hotels targeting foreigners, including the Taj Mahal Palace where the Middlesex team had been due to stay.
The England team also stayed at the hotel two weeks ago and were due to return there on December 16, three days ahead of the second test. (dpa)
