The pilot of GoAir had already communicated to the air traffic controller (ATC) of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport that he was having difficulty in the nose wheel of the aircraft’s landing gear at around 4.20 p.m. after which the Airport officials immediately reacted and prepared for the emergency landing of the plane by clearing the runaway, and placing ambulance and rescue operations team on full alert, ready for any unforeseen circumstances.
Executive director of the Airtports Authority of India, V Somasundaram, also in charge of the ATC operations at IGI Airport, Delhi, said, "The pilot made a pass over the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower for visual verification, and was told that the nose wheel was stuck.
