Egypt extradites 13 Jordanians charged with human organ trading

JordanAmman  - Amman authorities Monday received 13 Jordanians extradited from Egypt amid allegations of involvement in trading in human organs, the official Petra news agency reported.

"The defendants arrived in Jordan this evening and were referred to the concerned authorities for interrogation," Petra quoted an authoritative source as saying.

Contacts between the two governments through the Jordanian embassy in Cairo had speeded up the extradition of the 13 Jordanians, the official added.

He gave no further details, but local newspapers recently reported that the 13 were suspected of involvement in the sale of kidneys to well-to-do Arabs in the Gulf countries and other areas.

Several citizens were also arrested inside Jordan over the past few weeks for interrogation on suspicion of having links with the group.  dpa
