Effective and transparent governance essential for inclusive growth: Vice-President
Astana (Kazakhstan), Apr 8 (ANI): on Tuesday called for effective and transparent governance to guarantee inclusive growth.
Addressing at the Academy of Public Administration here, Ansari stated that civil society, polity and economy also have an important role to achieve the desired objectives.
He said creation of democratic culture and participatory governance was a challenge and India took it up in the right earnest.
“With the involvement of 2, 40,000 Panchyati Raj Institutions and the election of 3.6 million elected persons is the greatest democratic experiment in the world. This paved the way to address the concerns of all sections of the society including schedule castes, schedule tribes, women and minorities and changed the face of rural India,” he said.
Ansari further said: “The focus is now on to completely bridge the urban rural divide.”
When vast majority of developing and newly independent countries had opted for non democratic modes of government to promote nation building and development, India successfully created a culture and participative governance, the Vice-President said.
Ansari is scheduled to hold talks with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev this afternoon. Intensified engagement in the field of energy and security related issues are expected to be discussed during the talks.
Earlier in the day, both Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov and the Senate Chairman Kassym Jomart Tokayev reiterated their support to India for the Permanent Membership in the UN Security Council.
The Vice president will be conferred an honorary doctorate by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almati late this evening. (ANI)
