DoT mulls amalgamation of telecom circles
Bearing in mind the roaming matter for mobile users, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is thinking to merge the 22 circles in which telecom operators present services all across India into better and wore wider service areas.
DoT expressed in an internal note that there are roaming concern affix to the 22 service areas. There shall be an alternative to combine specific service areas, creating a wider service area.
It can be moreover one service wrapping up the complete nation or four or five service areas, each one covering a separated specific region.
At present, the nation is separated into 22 licensed circles, wherein DoT gives a unified access service license (UASL) to machinist for presenting mobile and landline services.
The amalgamation of service areas shall also help in finding additional subscribers, the department expressed. The traffic can also amplify considerably with reduced service areas.
When a mobile user is moving from his chosen service area to a diverse one, the user is charged roaming fees on incoming and outgoing calls, additionally as messages on the similar and dissimilar networks.
