Donald Trump should be excluded from Republican debates: Club for Growth
Lately, the Club for Growth, a conservative advocacy organization, has stated that real estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump should be excluded from the Republican debates, as Trump's presidential bid was not at all serious.
Trump said that the organization is attacking him because he has turned down their recent request of a $1 million donation. Donald Trump announced his plans for the 2016 presidential campaign on Tuesday.
The organization has come up with a 'white paper' in which it assesses the policy positions of every major GOP candidate in the presidential race. But it refused to have a white paper on Trump.
The group said, "He is not a serious Republican candidate, and many of his positions make him better suited to take on Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary. It would also be unfortunate if he takes away a spot at even one Republican debate".
On the other hand, Trump said that he has recently met with the organization people. He was shocked to know the amount they needed in terms of donation from him. In fact, Trump has also produced a letter, which he stated that was sent by Club For Growth president David McIntosh to Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski.
The letter dated June 2, 2015, referred about a recent meeting in which Trump has expressed his interest in supporting the Club for Growth. Enclosed in the letter was a request of $1,000,000 contribution.
Club for Growth spokesman Doug Sachtleben stated that Trump started showing a serious interest in donation for the organization. Therefore, they responded to him by asking for donation in the same way they do with all their potential donors.
Sachtleben said that the incident does not change the fact that Trump is not serious candidate and he could prove bad president.
