Doctor’s strike affects health services in Jammu & Kashmir
Health services in Jammu and Kashmir were hit for the ninth consecutive day as the doctors, demanding revision in their pay packages, continued their indefinite strike.
It is learnt that the work was badly affected in Government Medical College and several hospitals in Jammu district due to the strike.
However, the emergency services were not affected by the strike.
The agitated doctors have alleged the state government for not fulfilling their demands.
While speaking with the media persons, DJAC member, Dr. Satyander, said, “The strike is genuine as there is wide disparity between the pay structures of junior doctors in Jammu and Kashmir and other states.”
Dr. Satyander refused to call off their strike till the demands of the doctors are met.
Meanwhile, the Medical Teachers Association, GMC, extended support to the striking junior doctors.
The association also insisted the government to concede the demands of junior doctors.
Hundreds of patients had suffered of the strike as junior doctors did not joined duties in various medical institutions including the Government Medical College Jammu.
Some of the patients were shifted to private hospitals by their relatives.
