Death toll from Bangladesh hotel fire rises to two
Dhaka - The toll of death from an exploding gas cylinder in a tourist hotel in the Bangladesh capital Dhaka rose to two while several others admitted to a local hospital were listed as critical, officials said Thursday.
Two explosions in quick succession killed one hotel employee Monday and injured nearly 50 people.
Another employee with severe burn injuries died Wednesday night in the Dhaka Medical Hospital, a police spokesman said.
A Sri Lankan national rescued from the wreckage was being treated in the burn unit of the state-run hospital.
Housekeeping supervisor Ali Azam Chowdhury was killed immediately after the explosion that rocked the neighbourhood creating panic among residents.
Experts suspect the blast was caused by a cooking gas cylinder. (dpa)
