DDCA arranges meeting with cricketers on Feroz Shah Kotla fiasco
Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has planned to organise a meeting with the top six players of the Indian cricket team to discuss the improvements which should be made to the condition of the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium of Delhi. In the meeting, Mr. Bishan Singh Bedi will lead the team of the six cricketers to meet with the President of DDCA, Mr. Arun Jaitley on Saturday
This step is being seen as the correction after the final ODI cricket match was drawn between India and Sri Lanka in the last month, when the Sri Lankan Players denied continuing the match due to the bad conditions of the pitch.
It is expected that this meeting could be an important step in the formation of Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC), in order to take care of the development of cricket in Delhi. But at same time the success of the meeting is being put under serious doubts as DDCA is not seen willing to dilute its power to the players.
During the match, many Sri Lankan Batsmen, including Tillakaratne Dilshan got injured due to the uneven bounce in the pitch. After this the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium got severe criticism for its mismanagement of the wicket for an international game. This could lead to the ban on the stadium, which in order could prevent the stadium from hosting the 2011 world cup.
A source has informed that the Bishan Singh Bedi and the team are not in a mood to let DDCA to set the team aside in the important decision making.
Regarding the issue, the sports committee convenor, Mr. Vinod Tihara did not seem happy on the decision.
On the contrary, one more official said that the board can not prevent the players to air their views in media for a long time.
