JeeraJeera yesterday traded with the negative node and settled -0.54% down at 14403 as a pick-up in the sowing operations due to the favorable dry weather and dull exports weighed on sentiment. Sowing is picking up in Gujarat but any major fall is not expected because the stocks are very poor. India's jeera exports in April-November fell 36 percent on year to 22,500 tonnes. Jeera sowing has picked up in the last few weeks in Gujarat, the biggest producer, but is still lower than last year. As on Dec. 27, jeera acreage stood at 229,200 hectares, down 4.3 percent from the year-ago figure of 239,400 hectares, data from the state farm department showed. In India, jeera is cultivated during winter from October to December, and harvested in February-April. In Unjha, a key spot market in Gujarat, jeera gained 39.2 rupees to end at 14518.75 rupees per 100 kg. In yesterday's trading session Jeera has touched the low of 14355 after opening at 14455, and finally settled at 14403. For today's session market is looking to take support at 14289, a break below could see a test of 14175 and where as resistance is now likely to be seen at 14583, a move above could see prices testing 14763.
