Colton Harris-Moore aka 'Barefoot bandit' reach US
According to the media reports, Colton Harris-Moore, the "barefoot bandit" wanted in a series of U. S. thefts, was deported to the United States Tuesday after pleading guilty in the Bahamas.
CNN has reported that FBI Special Agent Judith Orihuela said a plane carrying Harris-Moore arrived in Miami at 6:23 p. m. EDT. Harris-Moore is to appear Wednesday in federal court in Miami.
CNN further said that Harris-Moore, 19, wanted in a crime spree that reached from the Pacific Northwest to the U. S. Midwest to the Caribbean, pleaded guilty in a Bahamian court to illegally landing a plane and was given a three-month jail sentence or a $300 fine.
Harris-Moore allegedly stole a plane in Washington state and another in Indiana, which he flew to Abaco Island in the Bahamas. He is also wanted in a string of home and airport break-ins.
It was also reported that the teenager has been on the lam since 2008 after fleeing from a halfway house in Renton, Wash. He was taken into custody Sunday on Harbour Island.
In December, Time magazine called Harris-Moore "America's Most Wanted Teenage Bandit." He gained the "barefoot bandit" moniker because he apparently committed all his alleged crimes without shoes.
Prosecutors expect Harris-Moore will be taken to Seattle for another court appearance after his Wednesday court date in Miami, said Emily Langlie, spokeswoman for the U. S. attorney's office in Seattle.
Harris Moore "seems to be very remorseful," His lawyer, Monique Gomez, told CNN in a telephone interview. (With Inputs from Agencies)
