Centre asks States to ban corporal punishment

CBSE SchoolNew Delhi, Mar 17 : The Central Government has sent advisories to all State Governments to ban corporal punishment in schools.

Minister of State for Resource Development M A A Fatmi today told the Lok Sabha that physical education; sports and yoga have also been made compulsory in all CBSE affiliated schools to reduce stress.

Fatmi also said that the Centre has urged all stake holders, including parents, teachers, academicians and society at large to play their role to reduce stress to school children.

He said the examination system has been reconstructed to test more of conceptual knowledge and understanding rather than memory of students.

A new national curriculum framework is already in place for reducing stress on students, he added. (ANI)
