Carvalho group wins Mumbai hockey elections
Joaquim Carvalho and his group have registered a standalone victory in the polls of the Mumbai Hockey Association which held after five years.
Carvalho, former India skipper M M Somaya and his group registered win upon 13 post out of total 14 posts of the Mumbai Hockey Association yesterday.
Carvalho and Somaya each won one post from the nine managing committee members' posts while Puran Singh Mann also won the post of the managing committee.
Kehar Singh was the only winner for the opposition party of Carvalho group who won the secretary's post by defeating 1968 Mexico Games team member Gurbux by 130-69 votes.
Meanwhile, the polling officer S K Sham has denied the charges of rigging during the elections saying the elections and counting of votes was done in a free and fair manner.
