Canadian police make multiple security arrests in TorontoIt has been reported that Canadian police made a third arrest on weapons charges in Toronto on Thursday as the city gears up for this weekend's G20 summit.

CNN has reported that a suspect whose name was not reported was arrested Thursday near the site of the summit with five gas cans, pellet guns, a crossbow and explosives in his car. There was no clear indication if the threat was directly linked with the summit.

It has further been reported that two others were arrested this week on explosives charges. Byrone Sonne and Kristen Peterson were arrested by a special police unit assigned to G20 security on charges of possession of an explosive device and a dangerous weapon.

Sgt. Tim Burrows of the G20 Integrated Security Unit told reporters the investigation was continuing and details of the investigation were being kept under wraps to avoid "hindering the court process." He said there was currently no danger to the public.

Sonne had expressed a desire on the Internet to test G20 security by using explosive precursor chemicals in some manner. He is charged with obtaining the same compound as that used in the unsuccessful 2001 "shoe bomb" attempt on an airliner, The Toronto Globe and Mail reported on Thursday. (With Inputs from Agencies)
