CA to test colored balls for Day / Night matches

Cricket AustraliaCricket Australia is preparing to organize a trail game to check viability of using colored balls for the day-night Test matches.

CA operations manager Michael Brown said that they have been planning to organize a trial game which will be a controlled experiment in which players will face the colored balls under lights either in the MCG or SCG ground and Channel Nine would cover the whole match with cameras.

Mr. Brown further added that the main aim of conducting this experiment is to check visibility of different colored balls rather then checking the durability of the ball for the five day Test match.

In the meeting of International Cricket Council (ICC), which will be held in London this week, the option of conducting day-night test matches will also be considered to attract more viewers.

The yellow, lime green and white color balls will be tested in the trial game for their visibility under lights and after finalizing one color, manufactures will have to make a ball which can last in the wear and tear during the Test matches.
