Bush to meet with Kosovo leaders
Washington - US President George W Bush will welcome Kosovo's leaders to the White House later this month during their first visit to the United States since Kosovo declared independence earlier this year.
Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci were both set to meet Bush on July 21, the White House said in a statement Friday.
The three leaders will discuss ongoing democratic reforms in Kosovo, which also received a boost from a donors conference in Brussels Friday.
The European Commission and United States pledged a combined 755 million euros (1.2 billion dollars) in aid to help Kosovo build up its institutions and infrastructure.
Kosovo has been recognized by the US and most European countries since it declared independence from Serbia in February. Serbia, backed by Russia, still opposes Kosovo's independence. (dpa)
