Bus collision leaves 20 dead in Bangladesh
Dhaka - At least 20 people were killed and another 20 injured in a crash involving two buses packed with holidaymakers in central Bangladesh on Monday, rescuers said.
The head-on collision occured on the Dhaka-Daudkandi national highway, about 120 kilometres east of the capital, Dhaka, a television reporter on the spot said.
Civil defence rescuer Abdul Jalil said identification of bodies was difficult because many were mutilated beyond recognition.
On Saturday, seven members of a bridal party were killed when the coach on which they were traveling skidded off a highway and plunged into a ditch in northeastern Sylhet province.
Nearly 4,000 people die in highway crashes in Bangladesh every year. (dpa)
