BSNLThe government has informed that the telecom operator BSNL has suffered a loss in the fiscal year of 2009-10. The government has also said that it there has been a huge increase in its expenditure in the reviewed year and it was the main reason of this loss.

BSNL has suffered a loss of Rs 1,822.65 crore during the financial year 2009-10. There has been a decline in the revenue in this time period as well. This has been informed by Minister of State for Communications and IT Mr. Sachin Pilot in the Rajya Sabha in a written statement.

He has also said that the firm has suffered such a loss due to the decline in its revenue. The wirelines segment has suffered maximum drop in its revenue with a huge fall in ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) in this time period.

Tough competition in the market has forced BSNL to reduce its tariff in wireless connections. This has affected the revenue figure of the firm largely. Mr. Pilot has also informed that increased staff cost was the other reason of the company's loss.
