British ex-DJ gets jail time in Slovakia for child porn Bratislava - A Slovak court Wednesday sentenced former British radio disc jockey Chris Denning to five years in prison for production of child porn, the court said.

Denning, 67, worked with The Beatles and helped British pop stars Garry Glitter and the Bay City Rollers to launch their careers.

He was also one of the DJs at BBC Radio 1 in late 1960s, as well as for Radio Luxembourg.

The Slovak police charged the former broadcaster, who moved to Eastern Europe in 1990s, in 2004 after a search of his house revealed tapes with child pornography.

A Slovak court released him from custody, and he fled the country. British tabloid reporters tracked down the fugitive in 2005 near the Slovak-Austrian border.

Austrian authorities handed him over to Britain, which extradited him to Slovakia earlier this year.

Denning repeatedly ran into trouble with British authorities over indecent assaults of minors.

He was also jailed in the Czech Republic for running a paedophile network and sexually abusing boys. (dpa)
