Britain to be Hit by Hay Fever Epidemic

It is expected that pollen levels will remain quite high for the next few days. The news is not good for hay fever sufferers.

As per the Met Office, pollen levels will remain quite high on Thursday, including the south east, south west, Wales and the Midlands. Officials said that the pollen count will especially remain high in the north, in around Yorkshire and Lancashire.

On Friday, the level will remain quite high all of the south and south west, the Midlands and Leeds. A Met Office forecaster said, "Although a band of fresher air is moving down from the north and North West on Thursday, the lack of rainfall means that pollen levels will remain high".

On Monday or Tuesday, the level will decrease. It is predicted that the number of hay fever patients will reach 20 million this summer the predicted number is up five million from last year. By 2030, the number is expected to reach 31.8 million.

Britain could face a hay fever epidemic, as pollen levels are quit high across most of the place. Marco Petagna from the Met Office said that they are attaining the peak when it comes to grass pollen season. It is the grass pollen that causes maximum problem for hay fever sufferers at this time of year.

Experts have warned people about grey fever. Owing to increased levels of traffic pollution, hay fever is more common in towns and cities than in countryside.
