Book from Hitler's library auctioned for 1,800 eurosParis - A 300-year-old history book from the private library of Adolf Hitler was auctioned off for 1,800 euros (2,430 dollars), the French weekly L'Express reported on Thursday.

The book, which was published in 1712, was part of the Nazi dictator's library in his beloved mountain residence Der Berghof in Obersalzberg, near the Bavarian resort of Berchtesgarten.

A French soldier brought the book home with him as a souvenir at the end of World War II. Obersalzberg was occupied by US and French troops several days after British planes bombed Hitler's opulent residence on April 25, 1945.

The French auction house Drouot, which organized the sale, did not identify the buyer. (dpa)
