Blue Bell plans to have Trial Run of Ice Cream Production at its Alabama plant
Blue Bell Creameries is preparing to reintroduce its ice cream back into markets. At this point of time, it does not want to go wrong at any step. Therefore, it has announced on July 8 that it is planning to test production runs at its Alabama plant.
In March, the company issued the first recall. The ice cream was linked with 10 listeria cases in four states that also included three deaths in Kansas. Blue Bell has informed Alabama health officials and the US Food and Drug Administration about its plans.
Main aim of the limited production runs is to assess the changes they have introduced, including effectiveness of new procedures, facility enhancements and employee training. Once the trial run report is clear, then the company will start stocking things needed to resume commercial sales.
Greg Bridges, vice-president of operations for Blue Bell, said, “We have been working diligently to prepare our facilities to resume test production, and our focus throughout this process has been to ensure the public that when our products return to market, they are safe”.
Bridges affirmed they are quite excited about the steps they are taking to resume their commercial supply. Their aim is to provide high-quality Blue Bell products back to consumers. For now, there is no fixed date as to when the test production runs will happen and when Blue Bell ice cream will be introduced in the market.
