BJP pooh-poohs code of conduct violation by Jaswant while Congress slams itNew Delhi, Apr 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) underplayed the reports of distribution of money by its party leader Jaswant Singh at an election campaign whereas the Congress party sought action by the Election Commission.

However, the party contended that it would take a decision in case the Election Commission takes cognisance of this particular issue.

"We have not been able to speak to Jaswant Singh. He was in some interior areas and if the Election Commission says something then we will reply. But what we have heard from sources is that he distributed money to a woman who wanted money for the treatment of her son. Although I do not have complete details of the entire issue," said Siddhartha Nath Singh, a BJP spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the Congress party demanded that the Election Commission must probe into this particular incident.

"Vote for note has become trademark of BJP. The Election Commission must get to bottom of it, so that BJP can come clean on it," said Ashwini Kumar, a Congress spokesman.
