Indian biotechnology firm Biocon is the seventh largest employer among leading biotechnology companies of the world. It is disclosed by Med Ad News in its recent release. Med Ad News is a respected biotechnology magazine which enjoys great confidence in the biotechnology community.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Biocon, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said that the current ranking exhibits its true potential in the biotechnology sector. The company has attained the position following its restless efforts to become global leader in the sector. 

Biocon provides employment to 3,000 as per reports of 2007. The company is ranked at 20th among the top 100 biotechnology firms in terms of revenue. Its total revenue for financial year 2007 was USD 2.7 crore. The company attained 88th position in terms of overall spending in the biotechnology sector.

Biocom was formed in 1978 and its two subsidiaries, Syngene and Clinigene are also working efficienty in the biotechnology field.
