Bhanwar Jitendra Singh is now king
Crowned as maharaja of Alwar following the death of his grandfather
Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), was enthroned as the new maharaja of Alwar estate on Thursday.
Former maharaja of Jaipur, Brigadier Bhawani Singh crowned him as the 8th maharaja of the Alwar estate following the death of his grandfather maharaja Tej Singh.
The coronation rituals were performed at the Darbar Hall in Alwar City Palace.
Prior to the coronation ceremony, pagri rasam and rang dastoor were also performed by Singh's father-in-law, Brijendra Singh, former maharaja of Dada Siba in Himachal Pradesh), as a tribute to Singh's grandfather, the maharaja Tej Singh, who died recently.
Several others including former maharajas of Bharatpur, Nabha, Bundi, Mansoorpur and Nawab of Luharu along with other royal scions from Rajasthan and adjoining states were present during the tilak ceremony of Bhanwar Jitendra Singh.
Later, Singh along with others offered prayers at several temples across the city.
