Bhaichung Bhutia to participate in Nehru Cup
Indian star footballer Bhaichung Bhutia has got clearance from the world football's governing body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) to play in the Nehru Cup. The five-nation tournament, Nehru Cup will kick off from today with a match between India and Lebanon.
Bhutia was looking doubtful for Nehru Cup as his former club Mohun Bagan had suspended him for six months over indiscipline issues. Indian football team had recently returned home from a month long tour of Barcelona and return of Indian captain will boost their morale for this important tournament.
FIFA spokesperson Valentin Ségolène reported that FIFA could not interfere in the Bhutia suspension case as it is an internal matter of All India Football Federation (AIFF) and it would be solved as per the national rules and regulations of India. All India Football Federation (AIFF) has already allowed Bhutia to play for the country. Indian football team's coach Bob Houghton is confident for good performance of Indian team in the Nehru Cup. Bob expressed that their team is well prepared for the tournament and Indian team will also be benefited by perfect training facilities in the Barcelona
