Beckham may return to Premier League to push World Cup hopes

David BeckhamLondon  - Former England captain David Beckham has hinted he could return to the Premier League in order to push his bid to remain in the national team for next summer's World Cup finals.

The 34-year-old is midway through a five-year deal with LA Galaxy but is set to move to Europe again when the American season shuts down between November and March.

Former Manchester United midfielder Beckham spent five months on loan with AC Milan last year and told BBC radio he has several options for a return.

"Everyone knows I will be planning to come back to Europe," he said. "I don't know (if it will be in England), there are a few options, put it that way."

England manager Fabio Capello has told Beckham he needs to play regular football if he is to be considered.

"I have had an incredible career so far," Beckham said. "I have had ups and downs, played in three World Cups, been captain of my country and played for some of the biggest clubs in the world.

"But if we reach another World Cup and I play some part, it will be up there with all the other achievements I've had in my career."  dpa
