BCCI invites bids for teams
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited tenders for sponsorship of four Indian teams.
The teams are men's cricket team, the under-19 team, the India A team and the women's team. So the Indian team jersey is once again up for sale. Sahara is the current sponsor of the team and it is going to be expired on 30th June this year.
Last November, BCCI had also invited the bidders for the same, but nobody was interested for bidding due to high base amount charged by the BCCI. It was seeking Rs 3 crore for each Test, ODI and T20 match that the team will play in this time period. Due to non availability of sponsors Sahara had extended their cooperation for six more months.
But according to sources, this time the BCCI has reduced the base price to Rs 2.5 crore each match in all the three formats.
It doesn't want to repeat last year's fiasco this time. It has been informed that Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group was among the first to pick up the bid document.
