BCCI bows before Shiv Sena
A letter written to Shiv Sena by the BCCI has now gone public. The Shiv Sena wanting to flaunt its strength has issued the letter to the press. The BCCI had written regarding the playing of the Australian players. The letter is printed in Sena's newsletter Samna. BCCI Chairman Shashank Manohar, clearly pleads with Thackeray to allow Australian players to participate in the third version of IPL starting in march.
ShivSena originally had threatened to disrupt IPL if Australian players are allowed to play owing to reasons that Indians were attacked in Australia. Thackeray restated this threat on Monday and has asked for a week's time if any sort reconsideration is to be done. Deccan chargers have already threatened to pull out of this version of IPL because their winning captain is an Australian. Adam Gilchrist helped them win the second edition of the IPL.
The letter that is printed in SAAMNA clearly states that not the entire Australian team is playing in the IPL and only a handful of players will be playing because already 7 out of 11 spots in a team are fixed for Indian players. On Tuesday Thackeray mellowed down and has said that he would not object to Australian players participating.
