BCB lifts ban on rebel ICL players
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has lifted ban on 14 players who recently ended their contracts with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) with a cooling period of one year for their selection in the national team.
The BCB had offered amnesty to the 14 ICL players on condition that they will end their contracts with the unofficial ICL before June 15. These players can now play in domestic cricket tournaments of Bangladesh but they will be considered for national team only after cooling period of one year.
The BCB officials said that 14 players have been granted amnesty as they have ended their contracts with the rebel ICL within the deadline provided by BCB and these 14 players have also submitted NOC and required documents which confirmed that they have ended their contract with ICL.
He further added that now these 14 players are eligible to play in domestic cricket with effect from 16 June 2009.
The 14 players who have been granted amnesty by BCB includes Aftab Ahmed, Alok Kapali, Dhiman Ghosh, Farhad Reza, Golam Mabud, Mahbubul Karim, Manjural Islam, Mohammad Rafique, Mohammad Sharif, Mosharraf Hossain, Nazimuddin, Shahriar Nafees and Tapash Baisya.
