Barcelona loan Gudjohnsen to Monaco and Henrique to Santander
Madrid - European champions Barcelona have loaned Eidur Gudjohnsen to AS Monaco and defender Henrique to Racing Santander, according to Spanish press reports on Monday.
Gudjohnsen, 30, has hardly played for Barca since joining from Chelsea in 2006.
Henrique, 22, was signed from Palmeiras in 2008 but has failed to impress coach Josep Guardiola. Last season he was loaned out to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
On Monday Barca will present to the media their third, and final, summer signing, Ukrainian defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy, whom they have signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for around 25 million euros (35.77 dollars).
Barca's other summer signings are Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Maxwell, both from Inter Milan.
On Sunday evening Guardiola admitted that his squad was "a little small", but "of very high quality". He made it clear that he would call up youngsters from the club's nursery side when necessary during the season.
Guardiola added that "something very extraordinary would need to happen" for Barca to make a new signing on Monday, the last day of the summer transfer window.
Barca begin their defence of their Spanish league title at home to Sporting Gijon on Monday. (dpa)
