Banerjee set to receive Mohun Bagan RatnaFormer Indian Olympic football captain Samar (Badru) Banerjee will be awarded with Mohun Bagan Ratna award on the occasion of Mohun Bagan day, which will be celebrated on 29th July as announced by Mohun Bagan's secretary, Anjan Mitra on Friday.

Indian team made into the semifinals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics under the captainship of Banerjee, and he has been known as founder of Bagan attack in the 1950s.

Banerjee joined Bagan in 1952 after having part of Milan Samity, Bali Prativa and BNR, and he played for next seven years during which Bagan won the titles of all major trophies under his captaincy.

On the issue of fine on Snehasish Chakraborty, Mitra said that the club has not been satisfied with decision of Indian Football Association (IFA) on the issue of Snehasish Chakraborty, who has been fined Rs 2 lakh after the reports of handwriting experts.

He added that they would challenge this decision of IFA in the court, and they have written a letter to IFA asking them to review his case once again.
