BAE Systems to deliver tactical vehicles to Taiwan

BAE Systems to deliver tactical vehicles to TaiwanAccording to the official reports, BAE Systems was selected to deliver its tactical vehicles with an adaptable armor configuration to Taiwan under a deal with the U. S. Army.

The order is for 24 of its Patriot vehicles that will be equipped with its Long-Term Armor Solution adaptable armor configuration, says BAE. The LTAS offers military and other security authorities operating the Patriot the ability to either increase or decrease the level of armor protection needed depending on the type of mission.

Dennis Morris, BAE Systems Global Tactical Systems president, said in a statement, "While maintaining a high level of tactical mobility, the vehicles provide a new level of protection and capability for the Patriot program."

It was further reported that the award, from the Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, is worth $5.5 million. BAE says the Patriot contract specifies delivery of eight of its Specially Modified Long Wheel Base Chassis, nine cargo and seven tractors variants as part of the company's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles.
