London, Oct 1 : An average British person spends 30 hours online every week, according to a new survey.

The study says 93 percent shop and 82 percent manage their finances using the Internet.

On a working day, the average person spends two hours online for work purposes and three for leisure. Only 33 percent do not use the internet at work, according to a study by independent price comparison service uSwitch. com.

At the weekend people spend three hours a day online.

The study says the social networking boom is one of the main reasons why Brits spend so much time online.

A quarter of adults surveyed said they need to use sites such as Facebook and Twitter at least once a day, and almost a third of 18-24-year-olds spend more than five hours a week on them, reports Sky News.

Jason Glynn, of uSwitch, said: "As usage increases it is going to become even more important that consumers fully understand broadband packages so that they are able to choose one that is cost-effective and right for their needs - at the moment this could save them up to 140 pounds a year.

"Ofcom should be pushing suppliers to ditch the small print, tell people exactly what they are getting for their money and be upfront about any limits to their service - unlimited broadband should be exactly that." (ANI)
