Australian Model with Down Syndrome to Walk in NYC Fashion Week

As per reports, an 18-year-old Australian model who has Down syndrome will be participating in the New York Fashion Week scheduled to be held this fall. The model revealing about her participation posted on her Instagram account on Sunday.

Madeline Stuart will be modeling with FTL MODA in association with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, according to Cosmopolitan. The company has previously featured models battling with disabilities in its past shows.

It has been said that Stuart has also recently started working with EverMaya, a handbag company which will launch a line of the accessories that will be named after her.

“She wanted this and she worked hard for it. I've done everything I can on the business end to get her to this stage. Now it's just her working her charm,” Stuart's mother Rosanne told Cosmopolitan.

Actress Jamie Brewer of ‘American Horror Story’ was the first to model for designer Carrie Hammer in February. She also was the first model with Down syndrome to participate in New York Fashion Week.

Madeline said in a statement that she wanted to change how the world sees beauty and challenge stereotypes about people with disabilities.
