Arsenal to appeal Eduardo diving ban
London - Arsenal confirmed on Thursday that they will appeal Uefa's decision to ban Eduardo da Silva for two Champions League matches after he was found guilty of diving during the second leg of their third-round play-off against Glasgow's Celtic.
"The club is in receipt of Uefa's reasoned decision in relation to the charge against Eduardo," said a club statement.
"We strongly believe that the decision taken is deeply flawed and not based on any forensic review of the video evidence available.
"There are obvious errors and inconsistencies in Uefa's judgment and we intend to appeal."
The ban, if enforced, would cause the Croatia striker to miss the group-stage matches at Standard Liege on 16 September and at home to Olympiakos on 29 September. dpa
