Areva T&D India Ltd., the local unit of the world's biggest maker of nuclear reactors, has been awarded a contract worth about €40mn with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. - ECC Division, for the supply of a substation package for Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

This contract is one of the biggest recently to be awarded in the Indian power distribution Industry. L&T is the main contractor for the Delhi International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (DIAL).

AREVA T&D designs, manufactures, and installs high- and medium-voltage products to transmit and distribute electricity from generation to the end user in Africa, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Europe.

Last month, the company has signed a €19 million order with UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam. The contract is expected to be the largest 400/220 kV turnkey switchyard with transformers order associated with a generating station ever built in India.
