Technology giant, Apple'snew iPhone 4 S ahs hit the US market on Friday and is now available on Apple stores as well as from carriers including AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

Apple and carrier in the country had started accepting pre-orders for the device last Friday. AT&T's online store portal was facing issues with huge demand for placing pre-orders. By noon on the same day, AT&T had said that pre-orders crossed 200,000. AT&T said Apple's latest smartphone was seeing "extraordinary demand."

Apple's website was showing a two week waiting period of different variants of the device. The pre-orders for the iPhone 4S have already broken the previous single-day pre-order record of the company's smartphone. The pre- orders of the phone surpassed one million in the first 24 hours compared to 600,000 units recorded by the iPhone 4.

The high level of pre-orders received by the company has surprised market experts, who had predicted that the customers will not be excited about the iPhone 4S as they were expecting the launch of a new iPhone 5 earlier this week.

The iPhone 4 has been the company's best selling smartphone yet. Apple has said that it has sold more units than first three generations of iPhones combined. It is to be seen if the new iPhone 4S will be able to attract a great number of users and surpass other records set by the earlier iPhone 4 model.
