Ambani Hospital, MRI launches robotic surgical system
The Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute have launched an advanced robotic surgical system that will improve the conventional laparoscopic surgery.
The new surgery called da Vinci Robotic Surgery was launched by at the hopsital Dr Suresh Advani, an oncologist working at Jaslok Hospital. The new system will help surgeons carry out surgeries with greater surgical precision, improved dexterity and superior control. It will improve the success rate of the surgeries, according to a statement.
The statement also said that that the robotic surgical system filters and translates a surgeon's hand movements into precise micro-movements of tiny instruments. The new surgery results n reduced blood loss, smaller incisions and faster recovery for patients.
"The precision offered by the da Vinci robotic system ensures greater surgical precision, improved dexterity and superior control, translating into smaller incisions, less blood loss and quicker recovery," said hospital's executive director Ram Narain.
He also said that a total of 11 successful surgeries have already been performed and none of the surgeries required blood transfusion. He also pointed out that all of the patients were discharged only after a few days of their surgeries.
The da Vinci system it is designed to be used for multi-organ surgeries, including treatment of cancers of prostate, urinary bladder, kidney, uterus and cervix.
