Seville, Spain - Mercedes Benz will in future equip all its petrol-driven models with direct fuel injection and turbo charger, the head of the car maker's environmental division Herbert Kohler announced.

The measures boost both performance and improve fuel economy, Kohler said at a function in Seville, Spain.

Kohler said the Mercedes E-350 CGI fitted with the second generation of direct injection had 15 kW/20 hp improvement in performance while reducing fuel consumption by
10 per cent compared to the predecessor model.

"We will introduce the technology step-by-step in all our petrol models," Kohler said. (dpa)
