AIFF requests BCCI to fund 2 million dollar

AIFF requests BCCI to fund 2 million dollarThe Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has received a request from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to fund the national football team, as reported by a newspaper on Tuesday.

The newspaper further claimed that BCCI could grant two-million-dollar for preparing Indian football team for the 2011 Asian Cup finals in Qatar.

The cash-strived football board AIFF is lacking money for its "Goal 2011" project in which top 25 players will be given responsibility to build the national team for the mega tournament in nine months time. In the mean time, all the players will be paid their fees which they could have earned during that time from their respective clubs.

A source reported that AIFF acting president Praful Patel has requested BCCI to help the football board as the project would need a lot of investment by them and they do not have enough money to go on with this ambitious project.

However, BCCI officials have refused to make any comment on the report saying that the issue would be discussed in the working committee meeting.

BCCI has earned a huge profit of around 222 million dollars in 2007-2008 and they had already granted 11 million dollars for promoting sports other than cricket.
