3 killed in US drone attack in North WaziristanIslamabad, Dec. 8 : At least three alleged extremists were killed and three others injured in a suspected US drone attack in Miranshah, one of the main cities of North Waziristan, early Tuesday morning.

Confirming the attack, security officials said the missiles targeted a vehicle in Aspalga village, which is situated 12 kilometres southeast of Miranshah.

“A car was hit by two missiles, killing three people and injuring three others,” The News quoted security officials, as saying.

An intelligence official, in Peshawar, also conformed the missile strike, saying: “The missiles were fired from a US drone.”

This was third such attack in the region less than a month.

Over 40 such strikes carried out by unmanned US aircrafts have killed over 100 militants in the region, which Pakistan claims is proving counterproductive in its war on terror.

While the CIA considers the attacks highly successful and claims that more than half of the 20 most wanted Al Qaeda suspects have been killed in such attacks, they have also inflamed anti-American sentiments in Pakistan over killing hundreds of civilians. (ANI)
