2,510 Brit students set new world record for most people dressed as Smurfs
Swansea (UK), June 10 : Britain's leading dress costume seller Jokers' Masquerade and Swansea University have smashed the current Smurf World Record, with an enormous 2,510 Smurfs gathering in the South Wales city.
Guinness itself confirmed the end of the Smurf Wars after almost two years of Universities, towns and villages donning white pointy hats and blue face paint to break the world record.
Triumphant Smurfs celebrated their victory in the Swansea nightclub Oceana at 1AM on June 9.
They were ecstatic that they had recorded the biggest blue turn-out in history.
Jokers'''' Masquerade were so serious about smashing the Guinness World Record for the most people dressed as Smurfs that they supplied 3500 blue gnome costumes to the students of Swansea University for the purpose.
"Smurf Guinness World Record holder has become an illustrious title," says Rebecca Oatley of Jokers' Masquerade.
"There have been five attempts over the last eighteen months with Swansea trumping Castleblayney's 1253 Smurfs recorded last year. We knew that if we were going to break the record, we had to do it in style and 2,510 Smurfs will be a tough act to follow for any budding record breakers.
"This is just the beginning of our World Record run. We are hoping to set, break and smash Guinness World Records for iconic characters from Daleks to Superheroes. Watch this space," she adds. (ANI)
