10 militants killed in US drone strike in North WaziristanIslamabad, Sep. 25 : At least ten militants were killed in a US drone strike in North Waziristan, where the Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters are believed to be hiding and carrying out attacks against the NATO forces which are engaged in an intense battle with the extremists on the other side of the border in Afghanistan.

The missile hit, which was the fourth this month, targeted militant hideouts in the Dandy Darpa Khel area of the province.

“Ten dead bodies were recovered from the debris of the house and two militants were wounded in the attack,” said a security official, on conditions of anonymity.

The official said the drones targeted the network of Jalaluddin Haqqani.

“The target was a compound of Haqqani''s men. According to our reports all of the dead belong to the Haqqani network,” he added.

Unconfirmed reports said that one of the sons of Jalaluddin, Ahmad Haqqani was also killed in the strike, but officials said they are yet to ascertain that.

“We are investigating whether it was the son or not.” The News quoted a senior security official, as saying.

The building which was attacked was used by the extremists as an office where they used to assemble to receive orders and rest between bouts of fighting across the border in Afghanistan, intelligence officials added. (ANI)
