Zardari favours dialogue with India to resolve Kashmir issue
United Nations, Sept 26: Pakistan will continue the composite dialogue process with India initiated by erstwhile Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf in order to resolve the outstanding issues with the neighbouring country, said Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari in his UN address in New York last evening.
He said that both India and Pakistan must respect each other and work to peacefully resolve all outstanding issues.
“We will continue the composite dialogue with India so that our outstanding disputes are resolved. Whether it is the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir, or co-operation on water resources, India and Pakistan must accommodate each other’s concerns and interests, we must respect and work with each other to peacefully resolve our problems and build South Asia into a common market of trade and technology,” the Daily Times quoted Zardari as saying.
Zardari’s comments assume significance even as he has just taken over as his country’s head of the state and also because this is his first-hand experience of presenting his vies before the world from the UN platform. (ANI)
