Yet another mysterious fire at Tirumala Annadanam
Yet another fire broke out at Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba Anna Prasada Bhavan on Tuesday, raising questions about the fire safety measures taken by the temple authorities.
In the most recent incident, fire broke out at Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba Anna Prasada Bhavan's store room, which is situated in front the main temple, early morning yesterday.
It is believed that the fire started at nearly 2 am, though no body noticed it till 5.30 am.
Nobody was injured in the fire, but it turned several tonnes of grains, pulses and ghee into ashes. These ingredients were to be used to prepare prasadam.
The authorized were unable to detect the cause of the fire. After starting at around 5.50 am, fire-fighting lasted for many hours.
While many people believe that short-circuit might have caused the fire, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) ruled out any such possibility.
TTD electrical wing DE Ravishankar Reddy, said, "It is not because of short-circuit." Mr. Reddy said a lamp lit in front of a God's photo in the store room might have caused to the mishap.
Food is served at the temple from 11 a. m. to 3 p. m. and from 7 p. m. to 11 p. m. daily, but yesterday the service could not be resumed till evening.
