Xi3 now accepting pre-orders for Piston Console

Xi3 now accepting pre-orders for Piston ConsoleComputer firm, Xi3 has said that it is now accepting pre-orders for its new Piston mini-PC, which was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 earlier this year.

The company is offering a discount of $100 on the price of $999 of Piston. The discount will only be available for early buyers, who will be able to get eh new gadget for $899. The small sized Piston uses the Steam Box's Big Picture feature allowing users to play console style games on their Televisions.

Steam Box is a PC-based gaming console built around Valve's digital game distribution platform. Xi3 is a modular PC vendor and has the financial backing of Valve. The Piston Console is expected to be launched during the holiday season later in the year. Valve's head honcho, Gabe Newell had said that the new Valve's Steam Box will be in testing in the coming three to four months.

The customers will have the option to acquire additional hardware upgrades for the Piston console. The company will allow the customers to select the size of the SSD, upgrade the RAM, motherboard, and even the AMD APU (Accelerated Processing Unit).
